Wonder why a CGA is the right choice for you?
CGA Alberta welcomes 386 newly designated Certified General Accountants this weekend at the New Member Ceremony Banquet and Ball. Confirming CGA's reputation as the designation of choice, the new member class represents the third year in a row in which CGA Alberta has graduated the largest number of new accountants in the province. In fact, CGA Alberta membership has grown by 75% in the past decade.
"Our growth rate highlights the value of the CGA designation," says John Carpenter, MBA, FCGA, CEO of CGA Alberta. "The rigour, breadth and depth of our program makes CGAs important for business. And, the CGA profession gives members opportunities both in Canada and internationally which open so many options for them."
The fact that more than 97% of the new members are employed shows the demand for the designation from employers. These new members are already working as senior accountants, controllers, college instructors, internal auditors, senior tax analysts, directors and team leads for such organizations as BP Canada, Nexen, EnCana, Ernst and Young, Shaw Communications, Scotiabank, Price Waterhouse Coopers and the Alberta Securities Commission, just to name a few.
Their employers recognize the significant commitment the 386 new CGAs have made in order to meet the demands of one of the most comprehensive professional accounting certification programs.
