CGA Alberta is a self-regulating organization of professional accountants, created in the interests of Albertans, to establish, promote and enforce the professional competency and ethical standards of the CGA membership, to develop, promote and protect the CGA identity, and contribute effectively to the evolving role of professional accountants in society.

Meeting Public Expectations
The Association meets the public's expectations of a self regulating profession by leading in the development of the evolving competencies of CGA members, operating effective and efficient professional registration and discipline processes and contributing to the development of public policy in its area of expertise.
CGA Designation Recognition
CGAs positively influence the evolution of the profession and enjoy benefits of same. These will include harmonization where appropriate with other professions, the accounting profession and the CGA Affiliation. Our role is to ensure public recognition of the fact that CGAs are a primary resource for the broad and expanding area of services offered by professional accountants, The CGA designation is widely recognized as a highly valued, respected, and influential accounting designation in Alberta, CGAs maintain professional competencies as expected by the public and demanded by the marketplace, and that CGA core competencies are complemented by specialist and similar opportunities for CGAs in the evolving areas of the profession.
Growth
The CGA Association has an influential and growing membership. Our goals are focused on ensuring additions to our membership will continue at the levels enjoyed over the past five years, the Association will continue to expand the routes for CGA certification to qualified candidates, and we will facilitate the delivery of high quality education for CGA students. This education is offered in such a fashion that it addresses the contemporary needs of professional accountants.
