Become a CPAA

The Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA Australia) and the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) announced a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) on April 8th, 2008. The MRA provides a route for qualified members of either body to become a member of the other body, and to enjoy the benefits which both organizations can offer. With a membership of more than 117,000 finance, accounting and business professionals across the globe, CPA Australia is the sixth largest accounting body in the world. More than 68,000 CGA Canada members and students work internationally, wherever accounting and financial management is required.

Benefits to CGAs

CGAs working internationally or with multinational organizations will find the CPA Australia designation is a valuable addition to their resume, opening up a large network of CPAA members around the world.

Employers outside Canada may not be as familiar with the CGA designation as Canadian employers. Obtaining the CPAA designation will help employers in some markets better understand that the two designations are equivalent.
