The Province of Alberta charges the Association, as a self-regulating body, to establish, promote and enforce professional competency and ethical standards though practice reviews and the complaint review process.

Our Program of Professional Studies educates and certifies the best accountants in the country. CGAs must complete a post-secondary degree before certification.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CGA Alberta provides market-relevant CPD programming designed to improve skills and advance careers. CPD is delivered in the classroom, at special events, and online. CGA Alberta participates in PDNet, and online resource designed to serve the information and professional development needs of CGAs.
Protecting the Rights of Our Members
CGAs in Alberta have full practice rights in Alberta. We work with other CGA affiliates to promote and protect practice rights nationwide, and to protect our self-regulation.

The Approved Employer Online Services
The Approved Employer Program (AEP) creates partnerships between CGA Alberta and companies that provide an effective working and training environment. AEP supports members and students in the workplace and promotes better business. Partnerships with leading companies reinforce the desirability of the CGA brand.
Building the CGA Network
The Association keeps CGAs in touch with each other and the latest CGA news thought publications like the email e-Advocate newsletter and website. CGA Alberta supports regional chapters, and hosts networking and mentoring events that bring members, students, and businesses together.
Leadership in Public Policy
Vision 2020 is a flagship public policy project, supported by the CGA Alberta Research and Education Foundation and partnered with the Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC), to promote long-term planning in Alberta, especially as it relates to the stewardship of resources revenue and long-term fiscal sustainability.
Recognizing Excellence
Outstanding students are supported with scholarships provided though the CGA Alberta Research and Education Foundation and other CGA partners. The Association also honours CGAs who contribute to the profession and the public interest.
