Become an ACCA

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) signed a global mutual recognition agreement (MRA) in late 2006 providing a route for qualified members of either body to become a member of the other body, and to enjoy the benefits which both organizations can offer.

Both CGA-Canada and ACCA are experiencing considerable growth in student and member numbers. ACCA is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy organization, while CGA-Canada is the fastest-growing accounting designation in Canada. The agreement provides a greater platform for collaboration and strengthens the already excellent relationship between two leading international accountancy bodies.

One of the steps to become an ACCA member is to complete the course entitled, Overview of UK Tax and Law, available on the PD Network.

Note: CGAs must register and authenticate themselves on PD Net in order to have access to the ACCA application procedures and form.

Benefits to CGAs

CGAs working internationally or with multinational organizations will find the ACCA designation is a valuable addition to their resume. For a CGA, an ACCA designation opens up a large network of ACCA members around the world. Obtaining the ACCA designation will help employers in some international markets better understand that the two designations are equivalent.
