Prospective CGA Students
Future Leaders in Business Award
(CGA Alberta Research and Education Foundation) - Designed to assist those studying accounting or finance and who want to take their career to the next level by enrolling in the CGA program. A $1,000 award is available to a student, not currently enrolled in the CGA Program of Professional Studies, who is pursuing a post-secondary education in accounting or finance while working full-time and has successfully completed a minimum of five (5) courses in accounting or finance.
This scholarship is awarded* to the student with the highest average in a combination of five (5) accounting /finance courses of their choice based on the first time of writing from among applications submitted.
Applications should be received by August 31 of each year.
*Scholarship recipient to receive money upon enrolling in the CGA Alberta Program of Professional Studies.
Ashley Fair Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship commemorates CGA student Ashley Fair who succumbed to a tragic accident in 2011 and is supported by his family who wish to honour his memory. The $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a current or prospective CGA Alberta student who can showcase their commitment to people or their community, in keeping with the values of the CGA designation and the memory Ashley.
Ashley comes from a family of dedicated CGA members. His parents, both CGAs, own a public practice accounting firm in Sherwood Park, Alberta. His mother, Penny Fair, FCGA, is a member of CGA Alberta's Board of Governors. Ashley was certainly not defined by his field of study. He was committed to people and to his community, and believed in living life to the fullest. He was a promising young man with a bright future ahead.
Criteria
- Applicant must be enrolled in / or hold a degree from the University of Lethbridge and are interested in pursuing a CGA designation / or is currently enrolled in the CGA Program of Professional Studies.
- Applicants must outline either their stance in the CGA Program of Professional Studies or their interest in enrolling in the program.
- Applicants must submit written evidence of their own commitment to people and/or their community.
- Applications must be received by June 30th of each year.
