Academic Requirement FAQ's
Q. Can I take a course from a higher level before I complete all of the lower level courses? Example - Can I take a level 3 course before finishing all of the level 2 courses?
Yes, provided you have successfully completed all of the necessary pre-requisites for the course in which you wish to enrol.
Q. Are all courses offered in each session?
Only certain courses are offered each session either by on-line learning or in a classroom through our partnership with NAIT and SAIT.
Q. If I am taking a course on-line, can I work at my own pace and write the exam when I am ready?
The courses run in 3 month sessions: September - December, December - March, March - June, June - August. The online courses have scheduled assignment and examination dates. You must complete the course components (assignments and/or online discussions, and/or quizzes) by the due date in order to evaluate your progress in the course. In Level 4 and PACE courses, the marks in the assignments are used to determine if you qualify to write the national examination. All CGA students across the country write the national examination for a course on a scheduled date. Since the examinations are scheduled nationally, you are not permitted to change the examination date.
Q. Can I take more than one CGA course at time?
As a new CGA student, you are only permitted to take one online CGA course per session. If you do well in that course, you can request to take more than one course per session. However, this is not recommended if you are working full-time and/or are in the higher level courses.
