Q. What is the fee for a transcript evaluation?
The evaluation fee is an administrative fee that is applied to all new applicants for assessment of transfer credit.Q. What do I need to submit for a transcript evaluation?
You are required to submit the Transcript Evaluation form, payment, official copies of your transcripts sent directly from the institution, and a work résumé if your courses are more than 10 years old. If you have non-Canadian transcripts, we can accept original documents directly from you or certified copies.
Q. How long does a transcript evaluation take to process?
CGA Alberta will evaluate transcripts within 2 weeks of receiving your official documents and payment. Once your evaluation has been completed, you will be sent the results by e-mail.
Q. Is a transcript evaluation required if I have not completed any post-secondary courses?
You are required to submit a transcript evaluation if you would like advanced standing in the Program. A transcript evaluation is not required if you would prefer to begin at Level 1, even if you have previous post-secondary education.
Q. I have a degree in a non-related field. Am I required to have a transcript evaluation completed?
You must have a transcript evaluation completed if you would like credit for the degree requirement, even if you are not requesting transfer credit for any courses.
Q. I graduated over 10 years ago. Will my education still qualify for transfer credit?
This will depend on many variables - marks in required courses, length of time since courses were taken, work experience, etc. Please submit a résumé in conjunction with your transcripts for a complete evaluation. You can forward your résumé to the CGA office via fax at 403-299-1339 or by e-mail to

Q. I have completed some modules in the CASB program what credit will I recieve for those?
CGA Alberta will consider granting credits to students who have completed all of the CASB program up to the UFE examination. Module credits are assessed on a case by case basis and an official CASB transcript should be submitted to CGA with your other documents.
Q. I think I have completed a course that is was not credited on my evaluation, how do I get credit for it?
We recommend that you first review the details of the CGA course syllabus. If, after a review, you feel that you have substantially covered all of the content in the CGA course from your previous education, you may submit a written request by regular mail or email.
A written request for additional transfer credit(s) should include the following:
State which additional CGA courses you are appealing
Name of the institution, and courses that you wish to have reviewed
Submit a Detailed course syllabus from the post-secondary institution, including the course grade distribution.
Additional Information (if applicable):
* IQAS results (if foreign degree has not been recognized)
* Current Letter of Good Standing (If you are a professional Designated Accountant.)
