PA1/PA2 Seminars
The Professional Applications courses include two weekend seminars held in Edmonton or Calgary. The seminars are a mandatory part of the PA1 and PA2 courses and students are required to attend both. Since some of the material is common to both PA1 and PA2, one day of each weekend will be a combined session for both PA1 and PA2 students.
Each weekend seminar runs Fridays from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The seminar emphasizes an integrative case study approach using concepts learned previously in the CGA Program and through your work experience. Your seminar leader will facilitate a case study that incorporates problem-solving and decision-making processes. It is recommended you bring your course materials and your Ethics Reading Handbook. In addition to building integrative skills, the seminar is designed to build camaraderie, increase collaborative learning and build networking contacts within a professional setting.
It is not necessary to register for these seminars. Once you enroll in PA1 or PA2 your attendance is expected at the seminar location nearest you. However, if you would like to attend the seminar in a location other than the one closest to you, please notify Student Services (i.e. if you live in Grande Prairie and wish to attend in Calgary rather than in Edmonton). It is recommended for group discussions to take both seminars with the same group.
The groups A & B will be split alphabetically once enrollment ends and this group information will be forwarded to enrolled students at that time.
