Exam Appeal Process

Exam Appeal Process

Examination papers are the property of CGA-Canada and are not returned with the reports from either a re-grade or critique.

Re-grades and critiques are available on request for students who have received a failing grade on an examination. These requests must be received by the Association within 4 weeks of the exam release date.

Re-Grade

A re-grade is performed by an independent reviewer/subject matter expert to confirm that no error was made in the marking of the exam paper.  Please allow a minimum of four (4) to six (6) weeks to receive your re-grade.  The exam re-grade fee is non-refundable, unless the re-grade results in a grade change from fail to pass.

Note: A re-grade is not available for PA1 or PA2 examinations.

Level 1 - 4 Examinations - re-grades include review of all submitted assignments

Critique

The critique is an extensive critical analysis of the student's exam paper by the Examiner, and includes a marks summary, and general comments on weaknesses demonstrated in the paper.  Please allow a minimum of four (4) to six (6) weeks from the posted deadline to receive your critique.  The exam critique is highly recommended for students wanting feedback on where they lost marks.  The exam critique fee is non-refundable.

Requests for a re-grade or a critique are to be made via the My CGA Profile by the dates specified in the Important Dates section.

Note: If you have requested a critique you do not need to request a re-grade.

CGA Alberta cannot guarantee receipt of your re-grade or critique from CGA Canada prior to the next exam offering.  Therefore, you should be prepared to write a supplemental exam in the immediate exam session offering or request an exam deferral.
