Program Time Limit
The number of academic years in the program will be determined during the first academic year you are enrolled based on the number of exemptions that you are granted upon admission and whether or not you hold a degree. If you are entering without a degree, an additional two (2) years will be granted to allow you time to complete one.
| Number of exemptions granted upon initial enrolment | Maximum number of years allowed to complete the CGA Program |
|---|---|
| 0-3 | 10 |
| 4-5 | 9 |
| 6-7 | 8 |
| 8-9 | 7 |
| 10-11 | 6 |
| 12-13 | 5 |
| 14 | 4 |
| 15 | 3 |
Your personal program time limit can be found in My CGA Profile > Web Advisor. If, for example, your time limit is 2009, this means that you have until June 30, 2009 to complete your studies.
- Even if you elect to take only one (1) CGA course during an academic year, the year in which you took the course is considered.
- Any year in which you write an exam only (i.e. challenge, supplemental or deferred exam) is considered one (1) full academic year towards your time limit.
- Enrolling in a CGA course, regardless of whether you complete it or not, automatically counts towards your time limit.
- When you enrol by paying your annual student tuition fee, but take only equivalent courses through a college or university, your time limit remains the same.
If you are faced with extenuating family or work-related pressures and are unable to take CGA courses for an entire academic year, the Association recommends that you take a 'non-active year'.
If you reach the end of your program time limit, you can appeal to the Registrar for a time extension to your program.
