Accommodation of Students with Special Needs

A longstanding philosophy of open access to educational opportunity exists across the CGA Association.  In keeping with this philosophy CGA Alberta will provide accommodations for students with special needs and those with religious observance conflicts. Students with special needs or religious observance conflicts must discuss exam requirements well before the scheduled exams. Failure to do so may prevent us from accommodating your request in a timely manner.

Special accommodation requests of a medical nature must be accompanied by medical support for the disability that includes a recommendation on the type of accommodation that should be provided. Support must be provided by a qualified professional. For example, the following professionals are considered qualified to evaluate specific disabilities provided they have additional training and experience in evaluating adolescent and adult disabilities:

  • Clinical or educational psychologists;
  • School psychologists; neuropsychologists;
  • Learning disabilities specialists;
  • Medical doctors with training and experience in the assessment of learning problems in adolescents and adults.

All examination procedures will adhere to CGA policy on Academic Honesty, and security will be maintained when handling exams.

To initiate your request for accommodations, please complete the following forms no later than one month prior to the beginning of exam week and email them to Manager, Exams and Enrollments kscarff@cga-alberta.org
