Academic Attempts

CGA students are permitted a maximum of three academic attempts to pass a CGA course/exam.  A successful attempt is one in which a mark of 65% or higher is achieved on the CGA exam.  An unsuccessful academic attempt (considered ONE of the three academic attempts), may fall under any of the following:

 a)    Submits fewer than the required assignments for Level 4 and PACE - considered a disqualification (DNQ - did not qualify to write an exam)

  b)    Writes an examination but does not obtain 65%

 c)     Discontinues submitting assignments and does not withdraw from the course - considered a disqualification (DNQ - did not qualify to write an exam)

 d)    Writes a "Challenge" Exam but does not obtain 65%

 e)    Writes a "Supplemental" Exam but does not obtain 65%

 f)     Writes a "Partner Challenge" Exam but does not obtain 65%

 g)    Attempts a course at a Post Secondary institution and does not complete course with a 65% for transfer credit or CGA exam qualification.

 h)    Does not properly withdraw from a Business Case (BC1 or BC2) and does not submit the Business Case by the submission deadline OR submits a business case with little work or effort performed OR submits a Business Case without due care and attention to format and requirements.

CGA students are permitted a maximum of three academic attempts to pass a CGA course/exam. A successful attempt is one in which a mark of 65% or higher is achieved on the CGA exam. An unsuccessful academic attempt (considered ONE of the three academic attempts), may fall under any of the following:

  • A final grade of less than 65% for a CGA course or exam;
  • Failing to qualify (DNQ) for an exam;
  • Failing to request a withdrawal from a course that results in disqualification (DNQ);
  • Earning a final grade of FAIL or ESUP for a PA1 or PA2 course.

A written warning is sent to CGA students after two unsuccessful academic attempts to pass a CGA course. This written notice provides information on study resources available to them.

In the event of three unsuccessful academic attempts at a course, CGA students are placed into Mandatory Withdrawal and must make an appeal for any additional attempt(s).
