Business Cases

BC1 & BC2 are projects that do not have quizzes, assignments or an exam and are marked out of 100% with 65% being the passing grade.  Since BC1 and BC2 are projects it is recommended that you work on the Business Case once you receive the materials and throughout the session, keeping in mind the submission deadline.

Business Case 1 (BC1) - Accounting Business Case (Approx. 60 hours to complete)

Business Case 2 (BC2) - Public Practice Audit Case (Approx. 70 hours to complete)

Please see the course syllabus and pre-requisites for more details about BC1 & BC2.

All Business Cases are to be received by CGA Alberta or post-marked by 12:30 p.m. on the applicable due date located under Important Dates & Deadlines. No extensions are provided.

Business Cases may be sent to the Association by registered mail, courier or delivered in person to the Association office.  Completed cases can be submitted to the office any time prior to the established due date; however, all business case submission will not begin to be marked until the submission deadline has passed.

Business Cases can take up to 8 weeks from the submission deadline for marking.  Once the Business Cases have been marked and received back into our office, the marks are posted to the CGA website, and the Business Cases will be available for pick up from the Association office.  Students who would like their case returned to them by Canada Post must include a postage paid, self addressed envelope along with the submitted Business Case.

**If you are mailing the Business Case to the office it is recommended to do so via Canada Post, using the trackable option so that you can trace it if necessary**

**CGA Alberta is not responsible for missing or lost material. Students are advised to make a photocopy of the case prior to submitting the original copy**

Un-submitted Business Cases will receive a Did Not Qualify (DNQ), which is counted as a failure and an attempt at the course.  An unacceptable submission will result in a 'DNQ' and is defined as:

  • Submitted with little work or effort performed.
  • Submitted without due care and attention to format and requirements.

Students who receive a mark less than 65% can re-submit the Business Case as per the re-submission guidelines below:

BUSINESS CASE RE-SUBMISSIONS

Students who do not pass BC1 or BC2 (64% or less) will receive a re-submission date along, with instructions on re-submitting, when the original Business Case is returned to them. A re-submission fee will be required to be submitted along with the Business Case re-submission.   A Business Case re-submission that does not receive a 65% passing grade will be considered a second attempt at the course.
