Professional Experience Requirement
Education and experience go hand in hand to develop the skills required of a Professional Accountant.Experience supports academic learning and provides the opportunity to learn from the experience of others. In your work, you gain and apply the professional competencies required of a designated accountant and practice the behavior coded by the professional body.
Prior to graduating, you must demonstrate that you have gained the competencies which the business community and the professional membership require of a newly designated CGA. This requires reporting, verification and review of your work experience.
PERC (Professional Experience Required for Certification) is the national online reporting process for students in the CGA program. With PERC, students are able to:
- Record their professional experience as it's gained
- Know what experience needs to be developed on a continuous basis, and
- Reliably track their progress to the successful completion of the process.
Students who begin documenting their professional experience after September 30, 2011 must plan and record their advancement using the new PERC process.
