High School Support
Becoming a CGA opens numerous doors, and high-school students considering a career in accounting or finance should seriously consider the CGA designation.CGA Alberta offers guest CGA speakers for high school classes to discuss accounting as a career option. Please contact us the CGA Alberta office to make arrangements.
Resources for Teachers
CGA Alberta offers resources for secondary school teachers to assist in teaching accounting and about the accounting profession. These include:
- CGA School Accounting Modules (SAMs)
- Practice aids
- Supplements to the topics covered in Grade 11 and 12 accounting classes
The SAMS give students an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they are learning in a realistic and enjoyable setting. The complexity of the modules develop incrementally with the topics and accounting procedures covered in class, and use both manual and computer applications.
The SAMS are intended for use in secondary schools. These modules are designed to supplement learning activities in accounting classes. There are five modules and the first three are done manually or using Simply Accounting. Modules four and five require Simply Accounting software. These modules are updated every two to four years by CGA Canada. Instructors can download the modules below. Please contact CGA Alberta if you have questions or require any assistance by calling 1.800.661.1078 or 403.299.1300 or send an email to questions@cga-alberta.org.
