High School Students

A Bright Future for Students

Becoming a CGA opens numerous doors, and high-school students considering a career in accounting or finance should seriously consider the CGA designation.

The CGA designation is recognized throughout Canada and around the world as one of the leading professional financial management designations, and CGAs are in demand to work in all areas of today's business world. For more information on the benefits of a CGA designation, visit ThinkCGA.org.

Contact the nearest provincial or territorial CGA Association to learn more about the possibilities that come with being a CGA.

Resources for Teachers

Resources for secondary-school teachers are available from the provincial and territorial CGA Associations, including:

            School Accounting Modules (SAMs)

            Practical aids

Supplements to the topics covered in Grade 11 and 12 accounting classes

The SAMs give students an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they are learning in a realistic and enjoyable setting. The complexity and requirements of the modules evolve incrementally in conjunction with the topics and accounting procedures covered in class, and employ both manual and computer applications.

CGA will provide one complimentary copy of a SAM per secondary school. In addition to the manual, schools will receive an IBM-compatible disk formatted for Simply Accounting Version 7.
