Graduation

A complete file review for potential graduates (candidates) is completed by CGA Alberta within two weeks of each exam marks release.  If you have questions about your status in the program, you are asked to contact the Association prior to taking your final examination to confirm that all of your program requirements have been satisfied.  Please contact us at studentservices@cga-alberta.org.

Once you have successfully completed all requirements, you will receive instructions via email regarding the Application for Membership to become a certified member. As outlined in the regulations of the Regulated Accounting Profession Act, applications for Membership must be made on the prescribed form and filed with the Registrar at the CGA Alberta office. The forms will be provided to you within two weeks after the exam marks release date. If you feel you have completed all the requirements and have not yet been contacted by the Association, please contact us at studentservices@cga-alberta.org.

Your application must be accompanied by an entrance fee, in addition to the pro-rated portion of the annual member dues for the months remaining in the fiscal year.  The amount of the pro-rated dues will be made available to you at the time of your Application for Membership. Entrance fees and membership dues must be received before your name can be presented to the Registrar for acceptance into membership.

USE OF THE CGA DESIGNATION

Use of the designation is prohibited until after the Registrar has accepted you as a member. You will be notified by mail once you have been officially accepted into membership and are permitted to use the designation.

CONVOCATION CEREMONY

As a new member, you will be issued both CGA Alberta and CGA Canada certificates which will be presented to you at the convocation ceremony.  The ceremony is followed by a formal dinner and dance. You will receive more information about this event in the fall.
