Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an important part of maintaining and enhancing your knowledge while maintaining good standing with CGA Alberta.
Your Association works hard to provide interesting and varied opportunities for you to meet this requirement, both in-person and online. In-person seminars may be offered via CGA organized events, post-secondary institutions, your employer or other education sponsors. A good resource for online learning is CGA Canada's PD Network.
For a sample of a few popular alternatives for CGA professional development, review the section on Post-designation education opportunities. Check this section regularly for updates and or contact us with your questions and comments at memberservice@cga-alberta.org.
The CGA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) standard ensures that CGA members remain current in the knowledge of their profession and is a protection to those they serve. Reports MUST be submitted annually by the 31st of March for the prior calendar year. As a member you must maintain at all times the minimums outlined in the guidelines. In order to comply with the mandatory CPD program it is recommended you average 40 hours per year, of which 20 hours should be verifiable.
